Big Fred's Bytes - May 16, 2018
Harvest Community Church has always been a mission minded church. Part of our efforts associated with the Next Initiative includes our desire to take supporting our missionaries up a notch. Many of you know our missionaries personally, but not all do. We have a brief hi-lite of several of the team members under the “Missions” tab on our website. Check them out by clicking here. HCC Missions We are also in an ongoing relationship with some that are not on that page. We will share more details about how you can stay in tune with their activities in coming months. Supporting our short term mission trip teams is a way for those that cannot go personally to be involved. Prayer, financial support, transporting team members to / from the airport are just a few of those needs. If you are part of the HCC family, these team members are part of your church family.
The first week of October, we will be sending a short term team to Juarez, Mexico. They will be working with a Mexican church in children’s programs as well as doing some construction work on a missions building there. Workers are still needed, and you can contact me personally for more details. email Bigfred - applications should be submitted by May 21st.
Other teams ready to serve this summer are already in Israel and preparing to go to India, Newark New Jersey, and Paraguay.
VBS is a great way to introduce children to our Harvest Kidz Ministry. Invitation cards for VBS at each campus can be handed out to your friends and neighbors. I encourage you to follow up after the invitation is shared and offer transportation if needed and help bring our communities together to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. June 18th to June 22nd for our Kittanning Campus; Petroleum Valley June 11th to June 14th; Indiana June 11th to the June 15th; and Freeport will be July 23rd to the 27th.
NEXT Initiative commitments have been coming in strong. Your generosity and heart to continue to grow the health and size of God church is awesome. If you have not submitted your commitment card, they can still be turned in to the church office or dropped in the offering at any campus. If at any time you have questions or need assistance, just reach out to your campus pastor and we will take it from there. (PS – We are preparing a training effort for this summer that will be designed to help set up a budget and cover other financial planning needs. We hope to have one or two people trained at each campus to help equip families with debt reduction planning as well as other financial planning topics.)
This fall, A Brighter Day Learning Center (Harvest Daycare) will be adding a preschool program that will include a 2 ½ hour morning program. This will be a great addition to our current full day program.
Details will be out soon but feel free to contact Gail or Joan in our daycare for more information.
Another exciting step will be an “after-school program” that will be available daily until 6 pm for
families that only need services after school. Various activities including exercise, healthy snacks, and
homework time will be planned in our afterschool effort.
On May 23rd at 6 pm, A Brighter Day Learning Center will hold our 2nd annual graduation for our
preschoolers preparing to enter Kindergarten in the fall. Visitors are welcome to join family and friends
of our graduates as we celebrate the early learning accomplishments of these young guys and gals.
Have you been to Idlewild Park? We have reserved Pavilion C5 on Saturday July 21st for our Harvest
family summer picnic. Discount ride tickets can be acquired through the church office starting May
23rd. Tickets will cost $26; age 2 and under are free. We plan to eat around 3pm and will provide

Attention all Tech, Media, and Worship team members: We will be hosting Dennis Choy from North
Coast Church in San Diego, CA from May 31st to Jun 4th, 2018. Dennis manages all technical, production,
IT, social media elements for his church. Dennis will be visiting all Harvest campuses to help us evaluate
and plan our media support in the months to come. On Saturday, starting at 9 am, Dennis will present
content and insight that he has acquired over the last 25 years serving in this role. Our training will start
with broad range topics at 9 am that everyone will find some value in. After lunch, our plan is to get
more specific during our afternoon training wrapping up around 3:30 pm. If you have interest in this
area of ministry, you are invited to come hear more. If you would just like to attend to learn more, you
are invited too. There is no cost for the training, but we do need to get an accurate count of those that
will attend. Sign up by clicking here!
While we have your attention on that topic, we want to thank Nick and Brook Greiner for their service
at our Freeport Campus. While they still plan to be with us for a few more months before they relocate
to South Carolina this summer, we need to plan for the future so we are in need of a new worship leader
for our Freeport Campus. If you have an interest in serving with our worship team or media team or you
might be interested in hearing more about the responsibilities of serving as Worship Leader in Freeport
– email me at Bigfredneal@harvestpa.org. Harvest always has many opportunities for growing our
teams in these areas of service.
