Big Fred's Bytes - June 29, 2018
WOW! God is sooo good.
Allow me to thank each of you that served during our VBS programs so far this summer. We still have at least one more (Freeport Campus) to go. And what a summer it has been already. Harvest teams have led two VBS programs in India, one in Petroleum Valley, Indiana, and then Kittanning. All together we have connected with hundreds of kids as we shared the love of Christ and the joy of the Gospel. We have seen many children pursue Christ through these relationship as well as families connecting to the ministries from each area. God is at work in those children’s hearts and also in the many of our leaders that have had the privilege to serve.
Another update, our short-term team recently returned from the ‘oven’. Well, actually India, where they served with our missionary in New Delhi and also with our Harvest 10:16 team. And it was HOT! Hotter than a turkey on Thanksgiving. But not one complaint from those that serve there. They saw the work of the Holy Spirit in many lives that had never heard of Jesus Christ. Thank you for helping them go!
We have over 60 people (mostly teens) in Newark, New Jersey this week to work, share their faith, and interact with many homeless people there. Our prayers are that God uses their efforts for His glory as He continues to work in the hearts of our team members. This trip has people from all four campuses included in the team. We also have another team of 14 people heading to Paraguay today to help build a living area for incoming missionary candidates. That gives me the chance to share that we would love to invite you to participate in our short-term mission trips. You can get more information on our website under the “Missions” tab, checking for announcements in our weekly bulletin or in Harvest Happenings.
Your Elders are currently working through our process for raising up new Deacons and Elders at Harvest. We are blessed by the leadership team that we have at Harvest in so many ways. God has used us as He builds His church and includes HCC in those efforts. Altogether now you have 20 Elders with 2 currently in training and 35 men and women serving as Deacons in your church. Things changes, so if you are serving in either of those roles and need a break, please speak to your campus pastor. If you are interested in training for potential service in those roles, speak to your campus pastor and he will be glad to discuss our process. If you feel called to this responsibility, we would ask that you prayerfully and humbly approach this discipleship effort.
Your leadership team is busy evaluating and considering many options as we continue to pursue building the health and size of God’s Church. Our NEXT initiative is moving along well, and we anticipate opportunities that we would not have otherwise been able to consider. Thank you all for your desire to share the gospel with our communities and around the world.
We currently are receiving applications for a few responsibilities that I would like to share with you. If you feel you might be a good fit, we would love to consider your application.
