Big Fred's Bytes - July 12, 2018
Back to School Sale. I might be just a little early with that but not by much. We are actively planning our fall ministry efforts at Harvest, and it looks like it will be worth the effort… But before we get to that, let’s enjoy a little summer fun.
We have a church wide picnic at Idlewild Park on Saturday, July 21st. Tickets are just $26.00 and include ride all day pass and Soak Zone. We have shelter C5 reserved for Harvest and plan to have hamburgers and hot dogs around 3pm. Put that with all your favorite carry-in dishes and you’ll find a good time for all.
Thank you Harvest for investing in our next generation. We have planned to host all teachers and helpers for Harvest Kidz and CRAVE at our Teacher Appreciation Picnic. The picnic will be held along the Allegheny River in Templeton at Chuck and Pam Rupp’s summer home. Swimming, boating, games, and some great food. Did I mention the food – If you served in Harvest Kidz or CRAVE, we would like to say thank you!! Come and receive…
Dayton Fair will feature our Harvest Worship Band opening for Danny Gokey on Monday, August 13th. OR – for the Cowboys and Cowgirls among us – join our PVC group at the North Washington Rodeo on the same night as they set up a Harvest Kidz Zone with games and face painting. Freeport will hold a campus picnic on August 12th starting at 3pm (directions under events on the website). Indiana Campus is putting all their fun on hold until the Hoodlebug Festival in September. What is a Hoodlebug you say? (More details on that to come)
Plans are just about complete for our Harvest churchwide River Park Service. On Sunday August 26th, we bring all of our worship services together into the amphitheater in Kittanning. Start out with great worship music at 10 am, Sermon, River Baptisms, Harvest Kidz Party, Family Picnic, and you. Makes for one awesome day, and you don’t want to miss it! Spend time singing and fellowshipping with Harvesters from all four campus locations. Carry in dishes needed. For more information or questions about baptism – email Pastor Rodney at mailto:rodneymiller@harvestpa.
The fourth year for Daycare brings expansion to our services. We have been caring for about 55 children on a regular basis at A Brighter Day Learning Center. By 6 am each morning, our team is actively receiving and caring for children with love and a heart to nurture. The day includes breakfast, lunch, healthy snacks to go along with play time, music, and age appropriate teaching. It’s not just letters and numbers here; we are talking about Moses, David, Saul, and Jesus. And now:
Daily Preschool – 2 ½ hour format (age 4 /5)
After School care up to 6th grade – 3pm to 6pm
For Information or registration, call our Daycare Director, Joan Harpster, at 724-548-5643 ext. 39
Students from all around the world are preparing to start their fall semesters at IUP, PITT, CMU, and other local colleges and universities. As they do, they will be leaving family and friends behind to journey into the university environment. Harvest partners with PRISM – Pittsburgh International Student Ministry and IUP International Friendship Program to help make their transitions more enjoyable. Many international students come from countries where they have never heard of or know little about our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We would like to share the Good News along with a little American hospitality.
You can be a part of that effort. We have established an information and prep time for all who are interested in hosting or helping with PRISM. Join us at 12:45 on Sunday, August 5th at the Kittanning Campus for this question and answer training.
Then we will be collecting new and gently used items such as small kitchen appliances, desks, chairs, and more during the week of August 12th in conjunction with the PRISM Garage Giveaway in the Oakland area of Pittsburgh on Saturday, August 18th.
We are also planning to host 10-15 students over Labor Day weekend. If you are interested in being a host for a student for just 1 night, come to our meeting on August 5th or email Jennifer Richardson at mailto:firstname.lastname@example.org; or Megan Ruffaner at mailto:email@example.com
Community Groups will start back up September 9th, and we are working to prepare hosts and leaders now. If you are interested in leading a Community Group, please call or email Deb Beswarick at mailto:firstname.lastname@example.org or call 724-548-5643 x-44.
