December 28, 2017

Is it really 2018?  The obvious answer to that is ‘no’.  However, it is really getting close, and I hope your 2017 ‘To Do List’ is just about empty.

We are still putting the finishing touches to the Harvest Happenings calendar for the first half of 2018, but we plan to have it ready to pass out soon.  Here are a few notes that you will want to place on your calendar for the next couple of weeks.

  • Communion will be available at all church-wide worship services this coming weekend (Dec 29 & Dec 31st)

  • Panel Questions / Answers SessionSunday, Jan 7th starting at 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm at the Kittanning Campus. These are the questions that we received during our Sermon Series – God, Man, & Woman that we presented from September 10 through Dec 3rd.  We have selected several questions that our panel will focus on, and you are invited to join us for the discussion.  Pastor Fred will facilitate our 4-person panel comprised of Mandy Reedy, Scott Rising, Mike Greiner, and Elizabeth Harvey.  We did our best to include as many of the questions as possible but if you submitted a question that is not answered, we invite you (as always) to meet with your campus pastor for a direct conversation.
  •  Baptism Service will be held on Friday, January 12th at 7:00 pm and then at both the 9 am and 11 am services on January 14th at the Kittanning Campus. Baptism is open to believers from any campus.  You can talk with your campus pastor directly or mark your connect card, and we will be in touch to help you prepare for this once in a lifetime event.

Well, the tax bill was signed, and everyone is trying to figure out what the impact will be for their personal situation.  A couple notes related to this topic that we have figured out are that contributions to your church will still be tax-deductible transactions during 2018 and beyond.  However, the impact on your personal situation may be a little different.  You will need to speak directly to a tax consultant for answers specific to your situation but until the end of this year, things are just as they have been.  That means that in most situations, all donations to the church are fully deductible in 2017.  Our office will process all tithes, offerings, or special donations in our possession before 11:59 pm on December 31st, 2017 and apply them to your 2017 giving record.  We will send out giving statements by mid-January with specific donation details to the address on record in your My Harvest profile.  We continue to make available giving options that include Text-to-Give, Electronic giving through our Harvest APP and the website, electronic funds transfers, cash, or personal check. The ministries of Harvest Community Church are possible through your personal generosity, and we count it a privilege to serve the church body.

In His service,
