Big Fred's Bytes - Nov. Edition

Have you invited anyone to church lately? Well, I know many of you have as I have had the opportunity to meet several new visitors at our Sunday services lately. “All Hands on Deck” and “Bring a Friend to Church” days were both a great success. I appreciate your effort toward increasing the health and size of the church. We look forward to building relationships with many of our new friends. Keep in mind, inviting them to church is only the first step. Connecting them to a relationship with Christ is our goal.

I want to extend a special “Thank You” to all of you who have stepped into many new serving ministries at Harvest over the last couple months. Your help has been appreciated, and I have heard several comments from our visitors regarding the hospitality they received. Thank you again, and keep up the great work.

Operation Christmas Child – Don’t forget to bring your boxes back to the church ready to go. We will be collecting them through November 14th and getting them shipped out on the 15th. We have heard the testimonies of those receiving the boxes; it really does make a big impact in their lives.

Thanksgiving Outreach Dinner - Saturday, November 20th 3pm to 6pm

We have things worked out with Walmart to place a very large tent in their parking area. We have round tables and chairs being delivered to the Walmart parking lot by the tent company on Saturday morning. We will need to set them up. There will be sides on the tent with a heater inside. Lighting will also be provided. There will be some music provided by the Worship team in the tent.

We will also have a 2 hour Worship Music event at HCC that evening; we will invite those who come to eat to the Worship Night if they are interested.

The needs – We are preparing to feed 400+ therefore:

We are requesting that each community group purchase 1 turkey (18 lbs), cook it, debone it, and bring it to KIT by 2:00 pm on Saturday the 20th ready to serve. We would like them in large electric roasters if possible to keep them warm. (Put your name on the roaster.)

Also, if each community group could make two (2) pumpkin pies and bring 1 can of cranberry sauce, it will help.

If for any reason, your group cannot help, it is not a problem. Please just let us know.

Debbie Baptiste, Susan Bowser, and Jackie Adams are coordinating the food. If you have any questions related to that, email Debbie at and also let her know who from your group will handle the above needs. We will also need help with set up, take down, busing the tables, and serving the food. We will try to have people available to talk with those attending and try to make them feel comfortable. There are tasks for every talent.

Everyone is invited to attend the Worship Concert from 7-9 pm that evening. This should be one awesome day – don’t forget to capture some photos of our people in action if you can. Kevin will want to get some on the website.

Church Community Builder (CCB) - Online Church Directory (We call it “My Harvest.”)

Over a couple of Sundays in October, we collected as much current information as we could to put into our new online church directory. Our goal was to get as much current information on members, regular attendees, and visitors as possible so Harvest folks could access this current information and connect with other Harvest folks online without having to contact the church office directly to get that info.

Thank you for your time and support as we build this online directory that will help our staff and you communicate and connect with Harvest folks more efficiently and effectively. If you’d like to access “My Harvest”, please follow the steps below:

  1.  Go to and scroll to the bottom of our homepage.
  2.  Click on “My Harvest” at the bottom of the page, which will take you to the login page.
  3.  If you’ve logged in before, then type in your email address under “Username”, type in your “Password” and click “Login.” You’ll have access to your own profile information and contact information for other Harvest folks by clicking on the “People” tab. If you don’t see the “People” tab, then call the church office and we can give you access.
  4. If you’ve never logged in before or are uncertain you have a username and password, then click on “Sign Up”, which will take you to the sign up page. Type in your name, email address, phone number and click submit to get a username and password sent to your email inbox. Once you receive the login email with your username and password, then follow the directions in the email or go back to and follow steps 1-3 above.
