Big Fred's Bytes - July 15, 2020 JAMBOREE TIME!!
Jamboree Time! Important details for your planning.
Our Jamboree is right around the corner so it is time to get some details in your hands. We have an exciting variety of weekend events planned, and I encourage you to make every effort to join in for food, fun, and fellowship. We have lots of space there for social distancing and with it being outside event, I believe this is a chance for you to grab some of the social camaraderie that we have been lacking. Our colored dots systems (Green, Yellow, Red) will be carried through to the entire weekend – keep in mind this is how you can comfortably communicate your preferences without needing to say a word. Masks are never a bad idea even though we are outside, but we leave that decision up to each individual to determine their personal needs, ability to wear masks, and the level of protection appropriate. Please keep in mind that our 10am Sunday Worship Service at the fairgrounds will replace “ALL” weekend services at the buildings. No online services for this weekend.
Lawn chairs, pop-up shade tents, blankets to sit on, sunblock, cool clothing are some of the points that we want everyone to remember. Parking is in the field across from the main Fairgrounds entrance. Those with walking limitations will be able to be dropped off near the Grandstand or take advantage of the golf cart transport to/from the parking area that we will have available.
You are welcome to bring food, snacks, and drinks, but the Fairgrounds Concession stand will be open much of the weekend for food purchases. We are providing a Pig Roast Picnic on Saturday afternoon at 5pm (no cost). No carry in will be needed for the meal as it would be difficult to handle carry in food with so many of us at the fairgrounds much of the day.
Don’t forget tents and campers are requested to preregister so we can plan for those facilities. Water / electric are available for camper hook-ups. RVs are $25 per night; tent area is no charge. Visit our Jamboree link on our website for all signs and to pay for camping, T-shirts, and tickets for Building 429. Deacon Rich Cramer will serve as camping coordinator. He can be contacted at 724-762-4633.
We are looking for helping hands this Saturday to assist in getting the fairgrounds ready for the Jamboree. Anyone willing to help clean the area is asked to contact Shon Mechling at 724-766-5453.
Danielle and Isaac John are coordinating a team to work the ticket gate for the Friday Building 429 concert. If you can help, you can reach Isaac at 724-525-8406.
For those that are ready to walk/run to help support a good organization, Pastor Kevin is leading a 5K/10K Walk & Run Saturday morning with proceeds to support the first responders’ needs at the Dayton Volunteer Fire Dept. Sign up on the Jamboree page www.harvestpa.org/jamboree
The Jamboree weekend is completely open to the public and will be a great place to invite friends and family allowing them to get to know your church family. But that will only happen if you invite them to join you. Give them a call today.
We are still talking with people who desire to be baptized on Saturday afternoon at 3pm… You can contact the church office to speak with Pastor Rodney if you or a family member have not been baptized and we will be happy to talk with you about that.
We plan to have Inflatables for small children as well as early teens. A dunk tank booth, where you can take turns showing your Pastors and leaders how much you really love them, will be open Saturday. I heard someone is bringing a bag of ice cubes just to make sure we get the message. Cotton Candy, Popcorn, and other goodies available throughout the weekend. Some adult games are being planned that include corn hole, ultimate Frisbee, and others. Details on those will be coming.
No, we did not forget about the Bible either! Saturday 10:30 am to noon will feature 6 different bible topics by 6 different teachers. You pick the one your most interested in. Kidz classes and fun throughout the weekend too! Four campuses meeting as one church on Sunday morning at 10 am where Pastor Mike will be bringing a special message.
Let’s talk music! Harvest Worship Team opens the weekend on Friday night at 6pm at the Grandstand stage. National Christian recording artists Building 429 will take the stage around 7:30 for their Western PA summer concert.
Saturday the Echo Valley Band follows our Baptism service around 3:30 pm with fiddles and such to get everyone kicking. The Carpenter Ants start their concert at 7:30pm and take us up to our Fabulous Fireworks Extravaganza at dark.
Sunday, our very own – Harvest Worship Team will lead our Worship service with Pastor Mike preaching. Service starts at 10am.
